['hɪlɪəd], Nicholas, englischer Maler, * Exeter um 1547, begraben London 7. 1. 1619; als Hofmaler Königin Elisabeths I. und König Jakobs I. war er der bevorzugte Miniaturporträtist des Hofes und des Adels. Sein Vorbild war H. Holbein der Jüngere. Er war auch als Goldschmied und Juwelier sowie als Siegelschneider tätig.
